general manager's message - june 2008

Greetings,

Shortly after being named Detriot Thermal's General Manager earlier this year, in an interview for the Company's newsletter I wrote: "when we take care of our cutomers and employees business prospers." In my mind, that really does say it all! We continue to be committed to the success and growth of downtown Detroit and we will continue to respond to customers' needs and invest in the growth and positive contributions of our people.

Similarly, it's important that we get our message out! Steam has been a vital part of the fabric of Detroit's commercial economic growth for over one hundred years and Detroit Thermal will continue to build upon this proud legacy and provide cost effective energy solutions to its customers and the community it serves.

In fact, since acquiring the system in 2003, we have invested almost $30 million to ensure that we continue to deliver safe, reliable, and worry-free steam service and there's more to come. In the near future, we will be announcing more concerning our additional investments in the services we provide.

In the meantime, we have successfully achieved a rate structure to provide our customers a more equitable cost-based service and we are actively renewing our volatile energy market. Also, we are evaluating additional services that will bring more value to you while we continue to explore ways to reduce our carbon foot-print and improve everyone's quality of life. Currently, more than sixty percent (60%) of our energy is supplied by a renewable source which is good for everyone.

Thank you for your business and for telling your friends and business associates that district energy provided by Detroit Thermal is a choice they can rely on now and for many years to come.
